It's A Little Scary...

I've been wanting to make fondant for cakes for a long time, but I haven't had the time or the money to take a class. Today I decided to just try it alone. Not such a good idea...for me at least. I guess I should have tried to do a little more research and find some helpful tips but I was so excited to try it. Now I know better. I knew it would turn out pretty crappy no matter what but I didn't think it would turn out this bad. My results were cracky fondant which I couldn't seem to keep moist enough. The instructions said to keep your hands and counter really greased with shortening so it wouldn't stick. Whenever the fondant started sticking so bad that I couldn't get it off the counter, I added more grease. And I got greasy fondant as a result.........
I at least had fun making the royal frosting flowers. I had never tried any of the flowers on the cake today and I know they don't look very good but for my first try, I'm pretty satisfied with them.

I used the marshmallow fondant so it would taste better but I'm not sure anyone will want to eat the fondant after seeing it.
